I feel exhausted just thinking about this story.

TLDR. the engine failed to start at sunset so we ditched the boat in a completely unsuitable bay after getting stuck in a current. We came back in the morning to find the boat still in place and discovered the anchor chain had seriously fouled itself, wrapping several times around rocks 8-10M down. After a lot of free-diving and underwater recovery, adding lines and 3 hours of serious duct tape jury rig bodging managed to get out of there on the 8HP outboard.
